Texas Sen. Kevin Eltife, R-Tyler, of District 1 has a larger vocabulary than most politicians. Actually others may know the words; they just have forgot how to say them. Those words are mistake, failed and even poor job.
At a time when the current administration characterizes FEMAs dismal response to Katrina as a sub-optimized success it is shocking to find an elected official throwing around four letter words like poor.
Perhaps we can chalk it up to inexperience but it was still refreshing to hear.
I attended Monday's Citizens Advisory Council meeting as a media guest and I am glad I took the time to attend. The Senator appeared to say what he thought; not what he thought the audience wanted to hear.
It may be safe to say that I have not always agreed with everything our elected or appointed officials have said. On Monday, I found myself agreeing with almost everything the Senator said. He even appeared to have thought his way through the issues; not just adopted the party-line. Based on very limited data, he seems to be representing us well.
Recognizing that my saying that I like someone might be the kiss-of-death for their political career, let me quickly say that I did not like his dark blue shirt or his tie selection. So I can definitely say I don't like the man.
This might be the start of a long political career for the gentleman from Tyler.
