Dons First Annual State Vintage Motocross Championship and AHRMA Regional will take place on November 19, 2005 just one mile from Downtown Jefferson, Texas. Over 250 riders are expected to turn out for this occasion. The event includes vintage and post-vintage motocross and support classes for modern and mini-bikes.
The event will also include Diamond Dons world famous BBQ on Saturday evening at Dons Hill overlooking the Cypress Bayou River.
Jefferson is nestled deep in the Piney Woods of East Texas and seems frozen in time. It is a charming town and an elegant reminder of a bygone era. There are over a hundred buildings in the city with historical markers. Nearly sixty historic homes and buildings offer bed and breakfast accommodations. Dozens of other historic buildings house museums, craft and antique shops and restaurants.
The wide, flat grassy pit area offers great viewing of the racetrack that runs through the cool woods. Diamond Don has created a natural terrain track reminiscent of the early 70s. Watch out for Big Air! The track runs through the 1880s ruins of an old sawmill and along the Cypress Bayou River.
This is a treat for the spectators as well as the riders. Pack up your entire family and come join the camaraderie and meet your Texas racing heroes of the 60s, 70s and 80s. Old guys on old bikes still having fun.
