Rooftop garden about ready for reservations
By MIKE ELSWICK, Managing Editor MNM
A renovated rooftop garden on the former Hotel Marshall should be ready for booking catered parties, receptions, reunions and banquets within a few months, said Jerry Cargill.

On Friday Cargill, developer of the nine story downtown structure to be called The Marshall, said renovation on public areas of the former hotel could be completed within six to eight weeks. That space includes the first floor lobby and mezzanine.

Cargill also said workers are moving ahead toward completion of a model condominium unit on The Marshall's second floor. The two-bedroom unit will feature open space, a master bedroom, a wet bar, wide screen television and two outdoor balconies.

"We've hired decorators and hope to have the model unit completed by November," Cargill said. "In the next week-and-a-half to two weeks we should start work on the rooftop garden."

The top floor was once the showplace of Marshall and Cargill said he expects it to once again be a popular place for functions from wedding receptions and rehearsal dinners to meetings for civic groups. The space could be ready by early 2006.
