A tired volunteer told me that between 3:00 PM Friday and 9:30 AM Saturday 150 buses arrived at the Tex DOT Rest Area in Waskom. His worker had been working for almost 24 hours but felt he had to continue.
While more volunteers are definitely needed, the volunteers which are now working are doing an outstanding job.
The refugees display a variety of attitudes upon arrival at the rest stop but most are in amazingly good spirit considering what they have been through.
Many people arrived with there dogs. I also saw some cats and yes even one bird.
Chick below to see photos taken at the rest stop this morning.
