TEXAS BIGFOOT CONFERENCE OCTOBER 14-16, 2005
Soon to appear in Jefferson, for its 5th debut.
Last years media coverage of the event rivaled anything I have ever seen in our small community. And because of the unusual subject matter the Travel Channel is coming to town to cover the conference, Jefferson, and Caddo Lake. The feature is to air on the Weird Travels segment.
But thats not all, folks. The October, 2005 edition of Texas Highways will have a 4-page spread of the Texas Bigfoot Research Center, this years conference, and Jefferson.
An editor with Texas Monthly was in town August 5-7 with Craig Woolheater, Director of the Texas Bigfoot Research Center and chairman of the Bigfoot Conference. One of the highlights was an interview with Dwayne Dennis, former publisher of the Jimplecute, who had written a story of Johnny Maples local sighting of the monster in 1962.
We get hundreds of reports a year from people who have had sightings, said Craig Woolheater. Jefferson is the most logical place for the conference due to its proximity to Caddo Lake and central location.
So who knows what might be lurking in these piney woods? The stories have piqued my interest and I am anxious to hear others recount their experiences with this famed and elusive creature.
