As the elected city officials of Uncertain, Texas, we want you to know that our residents are deeply troubled by your support of a proposal to take up to 2600 acres from the former Longhorn Army Ammunition Plant site for “future economic development purposes” -- instead of all LAAP land going into the new Caddo Lake National Wildlife Refuge, as has been planned for some time.

Our community is the first to be affected by any actions that impact on the new refuge or Caddo Lake. Consequently, we were surprised to learn of your decision to interfere with the long established, carefully (and publicly) developed plan to transfer all remaining LAAP land into the refuge when hazardous cleanup has been completed.

No input was sought from the city or from the Caddo Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism or from anyone we are aware of in the communities that will be most affected by the proposal you have endorsed -- including Uncertain, Karnack, or Jefferson.
