Marshall's MainStreet Second Saturday event keeps growing, with new vendors every month, an organizer said.

"We just want everybody to come out and see what downtown has to offer," said Bo Ellis, Main Street Program director.

On the second Saturday of every month, many downtown restaurants and shops open their doors early, vendors set up on sidewalks, musicians serenade residents and local farmers sell their produce in the city's heart.

The day is capped off with a concert at The Weisman Center, part of the ongoing entertainment series Words and Voices.

Merchants have embraced Second Saturday, with many opening early and planning sales on the special day.

At Under the Texas Sun, 207 N. Washington Ave., all Texas wines will be sold at a 10 percent discount in honor of Second Saturday, said co-owner Jennie Kelehan.

The shop boasts a shady outdoor patio, complete with a fountain, where customers can drink wine and eat gourmet foods for sale inside. The store, which will open 9 a.m. Saturday, also plans a sidewalk sale.
