Interest in the art of dancing seems to be undergoing a revival in America, with two hit television series on the subject (ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" and Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance") and a recent feature film, "Shall We Dance," starring Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez.
Jefferson's Chesterfield Club, however, was way ahead of the trend. The dance club was founded in the 1920s, said club president Waymon Moore.
Although it was once very active, with members in Marshall, Texarkana and surrounding towns, the Chesterfield Club died out during World War II.
It was reactivated in the late '90s, and will hold its second dance of the season Saturday at the Marshall Visual Art Center.
