An analysis of suitability of the Longhorn plant for industrial development
Mr. Henry Bradbury has submitted a review of the suitability of the Longhorn ammunition plant as a site for industrial development, as compared to raw land and/or developed sites.

He makes a good argument. Are there other people with an opposite view point that are willing to share with the public? EastTexasTownsOnline.com. wants to publish any signed opinions on this subject. They should be submitted news@mmmsys.net.

Mr. Bradbury’s complete analysis is attached? His conclusions are listed below:
=====================
The question is, does the Longhorn site have a competitive advantage over other sites that are available in the area? The answer is no.

With the vast amount of land in East Texas, both undeveloped, semi developed, and developed, the subject acreage at Longhorn has no distinct advantage, and in fact, is at a disadvantage due to its absence of basic infrastructure like water and sewer.

To put this in perspective, MEDCO offers essentially free land to industry that site in their industrial park, which has rail, water/sewer, roads, proximity to I-20/59 via the loop, broadband connectivity and so on, and there is space available, with no waiting in line.
=======================

It appears that there is no economic benefit to the County or the public for this transfer to a public/private group. In fact the opposite might be true.

Can someone provide a response to Mr. Bradbury’s analysis? Short of that people might reach the conclusion that the people pushing the idea of carving out land in the middle of the Wildlife Refuge are doing it for their own personal satisfaction and grain. We are interested to hear the other side of the argument and want to publish it for our readers.
