Wade Pomeroy, owner of kickboxing school Kick-Fit, said it's rare for students of different martial art styles to train together.

"Myself and Sifu Anthony (McDaniels of East Texas Kung-Fu Exchange) are both confident in what we teach, and we're not worried about losing students," said Pomeroy, who also is head instructor at East Texas Tae-Kwon-Do. "You hardly ever see that with other schools. We believe it's important for our students to get exposed to different styles and develop friendships with other students of the martial arts, which benefits them."
