Restaurant corporation eyes downtown site
By HILLARY S. MEEKS, News Messenger
With the closing of fine dining restaurant Venue 105 at the beginning of July, at least one restaurant corporation has its eye on the downtown area and that space on East Houston Street, according to landlord Debbie Berndt.
Ms. Berndt is the daughter of Marshall native Jerry Cargill who has revamped parts of downtown, including the old Hotel Marshall building, now called The Marshall. She is landlord for the former Venue 105 space and the bar Brophy's, both inspirations of local Shawne Somerford.
"Shawne did a great job of creating this space in downtown Marshall and I think she's going to go and do something else great," Ms. Berndt said.
