A Case Study: Why Marshall no longer has fireworks on the 4th
I read Ms Hudsons article with great interest. I think is documents a problem that Marshall must overcome if the revitalization of downtown has any chance of success. Ill have more is say on this in a future Opinion article on the site.
For now let me thank Ms Hudson for her efforts. She is one of a very small group of people in Marshall that provide endless hours of service to the community. The rest just 3C away.
And now the article.

Please allow me a moment of your time to express my thoughts about the Fourth of July Celebration. The fireworks show started in 1999 and was organized with a modest group of citizens, with Hibernia National Bank being the major contributor. We all had grand ideas and visions, which, for the most part, came to fruition. It started with having the Marshall Mall being a center of activities during the day so the heat wouldnt exhaust our citizens and spectators.
