MARION COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
EXPLORE THE HISTORY, CULTURE & ENVIRONMENT
OF THE CYPRESS VALLEY IN PILOT PROJECT
Nine Marion County high school students are participating in an intensive educational and training program to explore historic elements, cultural background, and environmental characteristics of the area around Big Cypress Bayou, Jefferson, and Caddo Lake.
The Jeffersonian Institute is managing the eight-day pilot program, which began June 13th and continues through June 21. Program support is provided by the Caddo Lake Institute and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.
The students are receiving training in computer technology, digital photography, GIS mapping software, archaeological survey techniques, and general historical analysis and environmental conservation principles.
