Students dig for history as part of summer program
Students dig for history as part of summer program The Caddo Indian tribe that inhabited the greater part of East Texas from 1500 until its forced migration around 1850 left behind clues of a rich and steadfast culture.

A group of eight teenagers along with a partnership of various groups is working to discover more about the Caddo tribe and how they lived.

Friday, under a much-needed summer rain, members of a partnership and some of the research students met atop the hills on Sanders Ranch to enjoy an authentic Caddo meal and discover more about the Caddo way of life.

This partnership involves people from the American Indian Institute for Progress, Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Prairie View A&M University, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Jeffersonian Institution and Bob Sanders, according to Gary Endsley, Cypress Valley Education Center education consultant.
