Before participating in her first day at Texas State Technical College's STeP – Science and Technology Preview – summer institute Tuesday, it never crossed her mind.

Now, "I may give it a try," she said.

This is the second year the school has provided the STeP program, which initially targeted high school girls to increase awareness of careers in process operations technology for women.
