City commission candidate Tom Allin charged during the recent campaign that the agency is not doing everything it can to economically assist Marshall, although Marshall residents finance MEDCO through sales tax revenues.

But MEDCO is doing a good job, according to an Austin economist who, as a profession, does economic analysis for companies that are being recruited by economic development corporations and also measures the impact of economic development corporations.

Jerry Walker, owner of DataSource, said the costs Marshall residents pay to attract the jobs, through MEDCO, "are reasonable and comparable to other cities of similar size."
