Being at the Texas &Pacific Railroad's second annual reunion Saturday brought back fond memories to about 25 former employees and their families.
Employees, wearing T&P hats and shirts, laughed and reminisced about the days when they listened to the whistle of a passing train.
Rilla Woodruff recalled Friday evenings as the most exciting times.
"When the kids were little, we'd come and pick up 'daddy' on Fridays," she said. Her husband, Louis Woodruff, was an employee who traveled back and forth between Louisiana and Texas working for maintenance and weigh. They'd cherish every moment before he had to travel again on Sunday, she said.
