Mercury levels higher than average
Blood tests on Caddo Lake-area residents who regularly eat the lake's fish have proven that those residents have higher than average levels of mercury in their blood, but not high enough to affect their health, according to a report written by the Texas Department of State Health Services and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry.

In May 2004, public health nurses drew blood from 71 residents and asked those residents what kind of fish they ate, how often they ate fish and where the fish were caught. -3/29-
