Highway construction has become a three-lane road in Texas with one path each for local projects, a statewide dream and a federal proposal stretching from Michigan to the Rio Grande Valley.
"They're totally independent and separate," Texas Highway Commissioner Robert Nichols said. He and other state and federal officials, including Harrison County Judge Wayne McWhorter, feel strongly that the proposed route of Interstate 69 through East and Northeast Texas will be an important part of the state's future. -2/19-
