Opinion: A Sense of Decency Would Help Water Debate

In Marshall today, a new and very local brand of McCarthyism rages like a forest fire during a drought. People who oppose the city of MarshallÂ’s efforts to divert water from Caddo Lake for industrial use without a contested hearing, as the law provides, are being vilified and harassed. False stories and factual misrepresentations are being made in public forums. Demonstrably untrue charges are being submitted to elected officials to influence city and county proceedings.
