His life has been one of service, and he shone wherever he was assigned. His star rose quickly in the Navy, and his stories of his service and assignments has been a source of incredible entertainment. He and his wife Charlene moved to Marshall three decades ago, and he served here as he had for his country.

His outlook was such a positive one, his actions decisive, well thought out and always leaning to the positive side of any issue. He was loved, respected and thoroughly enjoyed. Sam will be missed by all who knew him. The world has lost one of its very best.
