Mexico, Texas exchange could help provide insights on lake
UNCERTAIN — U.S. and Mexican scientists will team up soon with residents at sites in both countries to gain understanding of the unique wetlands and boost eco-tourism at both sites. "Why are we doing this here?" Caddo Lake Institute Director Dwight Shellman asked. "Because we're going to do it in Mexico." On Dec. 2, scientists from the Mexican state of Tamaulipas will arrive in Jefferson for a three-day conference that includes a flotilla from the Jefferson Waterfront to Caddo Lake State Park. Wetlands there are among 19 American sites designated as Wetlands of International Importance under the Ramsar Treaty of 1971.
