The Show Must Go On
In a traditional bit of show business jargon, the phrase "the show must go on" applied to last weekend's performances for Jefferson's Opera House Theatre Players when the lead male actor, John Meyer (who played the role of Albert Peterson), was notified that his father was dying in Wisconsin.

Despite dealing with the traumatic turn of events in mid-week for Meyer, he continued with rehearsals and was on stage for the dress rehearsal as well as the two performances Friday and Saturday night after receiving the news Saturday morning that his father had died. He had told the director, Marcia Thomas, on Thursday about his father being near death but they decided not to mention it to the rest of the cast at that time. Following the Saturday performance, cast members were told at the 1950s ice cream party held for for them at the Dairy Queen. According to Ms. Thomas, Meyer was to leave early Sunday morning for Wisconsin by airline. She said that cast members offered their love and concern as well as thanks for being a "real show business" person.
