Artist Dennis O'Bryant and musician Grady Lee are unhappy with Marshall's appearance and they are not shy about saying so.

Lee has repeatedly attended city commission meetings and demanded that the city demolish or otherwise take care of the abandoned houses in his neighborhood.

In a recent city forum and in an interview O'Bryant said he has "seen third world countries cleaner than Marshall."
