At one minute past midnight on the third Thursday of each November, from little villages and towns like Romaneche-Thorins, over a million cases of Beaujolais Nouveau begin their journey through a sleeping France to Paris for immediate shipment to all parts of the world. Banners proclaim the good news : "Le Beaujolais Nouveau est arrive'" - "The New Beaujolais have arrived!" One of the most frivolous and animated rituals in the wine world has begun.
After three weeks of sampling some 300 bottles a day (not me personally!) we are able to confirm to you what was previously announced in the wine world..... Vintage will be as prestigious as those dated 1929, 1947 and 1976. Also, Beaujolais and Beaujolais Nouveaux will be full-bodied, delicious, powerful and seductive. They are ruby red, a beautiful color - at times very intense.
