Flattery is usually welcome, at least it should be when credible sources are saying good things about our home town.

The Wall Street Journal on Monday published a list ranking the country's most vital economies and the Longview area ranked 45th of the 379 metropolitan areas included in the comparison. That's not bad. As a matter of fact, it's downright impressive when you consider that Longview was the only smaller city among the five Texas cities ranked in the top 50. Austin, Houston, Dallas and Fort Worth aren't bad company to keep when economic vitality is being ranked.
