A new study published in the New England Journal of Medicine and reported in the Wall Street Journal (not exactly a liberal publication) this past February states:
·Older women living in the most polluted cities had about a 150% increased risk of death from heart attack and stroke.
·The danger arose from a type of soot that is generated by burning fossil fuels.
This study focused on the most deadly kind of soot which is a by-product/generated by burning gasoline, diesel, and coal. Based on this study, breathing now has almost the same impact as being a smoker!
