Recently Tom and Nancy returned from a trip to India. While on the trip Tom sent a series of emails describing the trip. I thought the articles were very interesting and asked permission to reprint them for ETTO readers. Tom agreed. Here is his story.

Below is a description of the first day of our seven weeks of travel in India and then two weeks in Bhutan. Several years ago while traveling for five months in South America (backpacks, a copy of "A Rough Guide to South America", four reservations, and no return ticket - I always wanted to be a traveling hippie but had to wait 30 years to do it) we had decided to skip India because we heard from many travelers: it is a hard trip!

Everything changed because of a phone call from my brother. He called, Nancy answered, he said he needed a traveling partner for Bhutan and would we travel with him, Nancy said, "yes", I return home a couple of days later, Nancy says we are going to Bhutan by way of India - you get the picture. This may have been the best trip we ever took - nothing in India is similar to anything in the U.S. What an incredible experience. GO SEE INDIA!!!!!!!!!
