Recently I spent two weeks on the east coast and upon returning the third thing that caught my eye (the first was my husband, the second was the beautiful canopy of lush green trees interspersed with mimosas) was the trash on our roads&interstates, county roads and farm-to-market. In East Texas we don't differentiate.

The saying "Don't Mess with Texas" is very cute and it sounds tough --- like a Texas slogan should. But how does that relate to littering? One day I saw a bag of trash fly out of the window of a Texas Department of Transportation truck which proudly bore a large "Don't Mess with Texas" logo. That tells me the state employee doesn't get it either.
