Though the application process is in its early stages, members of the Certified Retirement City Committee say Longview should have no trouble meeting criteria to obtain a state designation that would help attract retirees to the city.

With ample parks, medical facilities, educational opportunities, low housing costs and a lush landscape, the city is poised to attract retirees to spend their golden years in Longview, said Suzanne Cook, committee chairwoman.
