At age 25, Albert Abraham was held as a prisoner of war during the Pacific Campaign of World War II.
Now, 62 years later at age 87, Abraham a member of the "Greatest Generation" that came of age during the Great Depression, fought World War II and went on to build America recalls his time of service.
Maj. Abraham was a P-51 Mustang fighter pilot during the war. In April 1944, his plane was shot down by anti-aircraft over Thailand.
"I didn't want to crash-land. I wanted to destroy the airplane so the Japanese wouldn't have it," Abraham said.
