On Tuesday, May 22 the Tourism Task Force Steering Committee completed their review of the draft Tourism Plan developed by Destination Development . Prior to the Tuesday meeting the Steering Committee was in agreement with Destination Development on 50 of the 51 recommendations in the plan. On Tuesday the Steering Committee unanimously approved a modification to the last recommendation under review. When Destination Development incorporates this suggestion into their plan, the Task Force Steering Committee and Destination Development will be in agreement on all 51 recommendations. Once 2008 funding levels for Attraction Support Grants are modified in accordance with Steering Committee guidance, The Steering Committee will be in complete agreement with Destination Development on their budget recommendation. This represents a major accomplishment. The Task Force Steering includes representation from City Staff, the Main Street Program, Convention and Visitor Development, the Chamber Tourism Committee, the hotels, and the developers. Therefore, all of the major interest groups associated with tourism are in agreement with the Tourism Plan developed by Destination Development.
