Tourism is big business in Longview and is getting bigger.

Visitors to the city are responsible for thousands of jobs and millions of dollars in revenue, said Leska Parker, convention sales manager for the Longview Convention and Visitor Bureau.

Parker said the numbers speak for themselves during National Tourism Week this week. Tourism in Longview is responsible for:

 Creating 3,130 direct travel-related jobs;

 Filling 1,510 city hotel/motel room on an average day;

 Raising about $102,000 in daily revenue to Longview hotel properties  or more than $37 million annually;

 Generating $1.387 million in hotel occupancy tax revenue for the city in 2006.
