Local artist discusses evolution of train graffiti into tagging
By STAFF REPORTS
Dennis O'Bryant admitted to the Discussions at the Depot audience Tuesday night that he doesn't "know anything about trains."
However, the artist and Marshall resident for the past 12 years noted his interest in graphics has had him watching train graffiti most of his life.
Showing slides of drawings on the sides of box cars, O'Bryant said: "I've been sitting at railroad crossings all my life looking at something like that.
"At first they used chalk, charcoal or anything they could find to make these drawings. To think they would be inspired were they were" is something of a surprise, he said, adding: "It's all in transit. They (the artists) were not stationary."
