Wiley College Celebrates National Library Week
Marshall, TX -- The staff of the T. W. Cole Library will host a week of events to celebrate National Library Week April 15 - 21, 2007. The week will begin with "An Evening of Poetry" with selected campus and community leaders presenting their favorite pieces of poetry on Sunday, April 15 at 5:00 p.m. in the Cole Library sponsored by the Cole Library staff and Friends of the Library. On Monday, April 16, Dr. John Stuart, professor of chemistry at Wiley, will present a paper titled "Research Activities of an Organic Chemist" on the second floor of the Cole Library beginning at 12 noon. Dr. Mark Hopkin, associate professor of education at Wiley, will present "A Cultural Look at the Middle East" on Tuesday, April 17 at 7:00 p.m. on the second floor of the Cole Library.

On Wednesday, April 18 there will be a student presentation of poetry, song and drama. This student presentation will take place from 12 noon until 1:00 p.m. on the second floor of the Cole Library. Melissa Crawford, assistant professor of religion will present "Dramatic Presentations-Women of the Bible-Esther" on Thursday, April 19 at 12:00 p.m. on the second floor of the Cole Library. Also on Thursday, Charles Wilson of the local NAACP chapter will speak in the Cole Library with the subject "Wake Up Marshall" at 7:00p.m. The week will conclude with "A Synoptic Overview of 'Messiah'" by G.F. Handel presented by Dr. T. Bernard Clayton, professor of music at Wiley on Friday, April 20 at 12:00 p.m. and a children's story hour on Saturday, April 21 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the Cole Library for children ages 3 to 12.
