A new outdoor amphitheater constructed on the East Texas Baptist University campus will allow more space for the university and community productions, beginning with a free performance of William Shakespeare's "The Tempest" in April.
"Everything's coming along good," said ETBU Assistant Professor of Theatre Shane Fuller Friday. "It's good because (performances) are usually confined to a smaller space."
"The Tempest" will be presented by the Hilltop Players at 7:30 p.m. April 12 through April 14 and April 19 through April 22 and at 2 p.m. April 23 in the amphitheater. It will be directed by ETBU Assistant Professor of Theatre Charlie Pepiton. No reservations are required, but audiences are asked to bring their own blankets or lawn chairs to the event.
