The 134th Founders Observance at Wiley
Marshall, TX - Wiley College family, friends, alumni and supporters will converge on the Wiley campus to celebrate its 134th anniversary since the founding of the oldest accredited historically Black college west of the Mississippi River. The 134th Founders Observance will be held from March 10 through March 18 with special activities taking place on campus during the celebration.

Wiley College has been a center of learning for African American and other minorities for 134 years. The College was founded in 1873 by the Methodist Episcopal Church and charted by the Freedman's Aid Society in 1882, for the purpose of providing educational opportunities to the "newly freed men" and preparing them for a new life. The College is affiliated with The United Methodist Church. Increasingly, students of other races, as well as, international students are finding Wiley College to be an attractive place to acquire a college education.
