City commissioners rescinded a motion to establish an independent Convention and Visitors Bureau as recommended by Destination Development until more details were available.

At Thursday's meeting, Commissioner Carlile said, "I'm not necessarily opposed to creating a 501(c)(3), but was wanting to wait on Destination Development's plan."

"It won't be long and then we can address the situation," Commissioner Jack Hester said.

Destination Development's final plan is expected in May.

In a related item, a joint meeting of the city commission and the Tourism Task Force Steering Committee will be 5 p.m. Monday, March 19 at City Hall.
