Bill Moyers event to honor Max Lale, raise funds for the historical museum
By SPECIAL TO THE NEWS MESSENGER
Bill Moyers - who returns to Marshall on March 9 - has blazed many trails in his career as a journalist.
He was an organizer of the Peace Corps, a spokesperson for President Lyndon Johnson, a publisher of Newsday, a senior correspondent for CBS News, a producer of groundbreaking public television, an author of best-selling books, and a winner of more than 30 Emmys, six Peabodys, and several other prestigious awards.
He has been called, by Walter Cronkite, "the conscience of the broadcasting industry."
With all that, Moyers has never forgotten where his professional journey began at the age of 16 as a cub reporter for The Marshall News Messenger.
