The installation of a 20-foot black marble fountain at City Park is the latest step to get the facility ready for a late spring or early summer opening, Director of Facilities and Maintenance Jack Redmon said Thursday.
City workers were installing the 50,000-pound fountain in the morning sun Thursday. The fountain is hand-made and was custom-built in China, according to Redmon, and was donated by Steve and Penny Carlile of Home & Garden Party.
"It's going to be beautiful," Redmon said, describing how the base of the fountain will be a marble pool.
