Residents discuss keeping area's identity, planning for growth

About 60 people gathered Thursday evening inside Berry Auditorium on the LeTourneau University campus for a lesson in "Livability 101."
Walter Northcutt of the Gregg County Historical Museum introduced certified planners Karen Walz of Dallas and Don Scott of Fort Worth, both of whom presented presentations on the possibilities for communities when residents care about the "livability" of the place they live and exercise vision in planning for the future.
Jeff Potter, moderator and Longview architect, talked to the crowd, mostly from the Longview and Tyler area, about the importance of having a city in which people felt a desire to live.
