Efforts to preserve the New Town area is beginning to progress.
"The progress has been slow but steady," said President Melba Jones of the New Town Association's efforts to preserve Marshall's New Town area, one of the oldest African American neighborhoods in the city, which boasts the Wiley College campus.
About a dozen Marshallites attended the Tuesday's meeting, including City Commissioner John Wilborn, which focused on the association's upcoming dedication of signage project and night out among other agenda items.
