Marshall Native Slated for Religious Emphasis Week at Wiley
Marshall, TX - In honor of its covenant relationship with The United Methodist Church, Wiley College officials have scheduled its annual Religious Emphasis Week for Saturday, February 3rd through Sunday, February 11, 2007. This years theme is 'Built on a Solid Rock: Faith, Family and Wiley'. It was developed by the Religious Emphasis Week Committee to emphasize the College's status as a church-related institution. 'The theme, also, is designed to reinforce and connect the importance of faith and spiritual growth to the daily lives of students,' said Dr. Joseph L. Morale, vice president for student affairs and enrollment services and advisor to the committee.

An exciting and inspiring schedule of activities is planned for the week, beginning with a Gospel Explosion concert on Saturday, February 3, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. in the Julius S. Scott, Sr. Chapel. Recording artists Angela Spivey and Carolyn Traylor will headline the gospel concert with praise and worship music by several local area church choirs and musicians. Participating choirs include the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church Choir, Bethel Temple of Longview, Texas and True Praise and Just Praise from Marshall. Admission is $5.00 for non-students and the community is welcome to come and witness how God gives new mercies every day through songs of praise, said national recording artist, Carolyn Spivey of Greenville, Texas.
