Wednesday, January 03, 2007 New Harrison County Judge Richard Anderson said he was overwhelmed by the show of support from an overflow crowd attending his swearing in ceremony in the lobby of The Marshall Tuesday evening.

Anderson, who defeated Republican Jeffery Thompson in the November general election, took the oath of office from 71st District Court Judge Bonnie Hagan Leggat. She was filling in for U.S. Federal Judge T. John Ward who was scheduled to conduct the ceremony but who was unable to attend.

Anderson reaffirmed his campaign pledge to be a unifying force for the future of Harrison County and the region.

"Together we can build a stronger community," he said. "To all who helped with time, talent and treasure in our campaign, we express our thanks."
