It was Christmas Day, 1854, when Miss Mimms either witnessed the miracle or performed it herself (with the Lord's help, of course.)

The day before, on Christmas Eve, Miss Mimms had trudged into the jungle clearing and was surrounded by the last ash-rose light of day. It had been so dark among the trees. She laid her parasol down and sat on a log by the fire her bearers were blowing into flames, trying to remain the cheerful English lady she appeared to be.
