The Tourism Task Force Steering Committee invites the public to hear an assessment of Marshall through the eyes of tourism consulting firm Destination Development, Inc.

The assessment workshop will be Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the East Texas Conference Center, 5301 S. East End Blvd.

"The first part is basically a report from Destination Development about their initial findings on their first visit here," said Ron Munden, task force project manager.

The firm's first visit was conducted by consultants John T. Kelsh and Roger Brooks last month. During the visit, the two interviewed locals, looked at signage, did some secret shopping and took a tour to familiarize themselves with the town.

Wednesday's presentation will reveal both their first impressions and lasting impressions. In addition, the firm will give its opinion on signage, the diversity of businesses here, the ease of maneuvering around the town, local attitudes, beautification, things to see and do and how Marshall compares to similar towns.
