For 20 years, people from around the country have visited Marshall during the holiday season to see the Wonderland of Lights.
For Rusty Workman, it has been a family tradition.
Workman, CiCi's Pizza manager, began bringing his family to Marshall during Wonderland about 18 years ago and said he liked it so much he decided to relocate from Arlington. This year the courthouse, which is usually lit up during the holidays, is undergoing construction at the time when tourists will come to see the famous lights.
For Workman and a lot of other concerned citizens this was a problem, and something needed to be done.
"It really broke our heart," said Workman when speaking about how construction might effect first-time tourists and repeat visitors.
He decided to call Marshall City Commissioner Mike McMurray and together they decided to have decorated Christmas trees placed on the north side of the courthouse, where there will be limited decoration.
