A note from Gail K Beil
On behalf of the Friends of Marshall Parks, the Marshall Firefighters and the Marshall Police Officers Associations I want to thank all the people who contributed to the successful campaign to pass the city bond issues. Financial contributions allowed us to run regular ads in all the city's media. The cooperation of the Marsall Police Officers meant that both propositions were on the striking yard signs the accociation paid for. The Friends of the Parks and others who put up the signs, appeared before service clubs, neighbors, customers and total strangers to urge support for both propositions were invaluable. Chief Buzz Snyder, Chief Jim Wilkins and Parks Director Jack Redmon as well as City Manager Frank Johnson did all they could to see that the public was informed about why the funds were needed and what they would be used for. Finally we need to thank ourselves for making a positive step toward improving the quality of life in Marshall by voting "yes."

It will probably be May before we start seeing bond-issue related work being done in the parks. It will take that long to sell the bonds, draw up the specs and put them out for bids according to City Manager Frank Johnson. By then, I hope we have a neighborhood association organized for every park in town to help take care of what we voted to provide.

Gail K Beil
President,
Friends of Marshall Parks
