A recent item in the Marshall News Messengers Speak Out summarizes the feeling of everyone that I have spoken with during the past week. The submittal stated:
Who was the mastermind who decided to go out there and jackhammer all the concrete and make such a mess around the courthouse square right before the Wonderland of Lights. It makes no sense to me.
How did we get to where we are today?
The Marshall News Messenger reports that Judge McWhorter talked to the Chamber and Festival of Lights people in August and suggested that they needed to coordinate with the contractor. The paper reports:
"They were aware the courthouse was going to be under construction at this time," McWhorter said. "The evolution of that has been that, probably two months ago, we let Connie Ware and Phyllis Bryan know they needed to get with the contractor to work out the details of what needed to be done."
