The newspaper ran a headline; “This Julie’s Going Home” and that meant Omaha, Nebraska. My “public relations” mind kicked in and I was not going to have Julie fading out of San Francisco in a common taxi. I arranged for a vintage Rolls Royce—about a 1925 model, huge limo-like—for Julie and a friend. All the luggage was piled into my 1959 red Cadillac convertible (the one with the fins) top down and bags over-flowing. These beaded, form-fitting gowns she is famous for weighing over 30 pounds apiece.
